BANQUET TOMORROW-AND GO FALCONS

Good evening. I hope most of you aren't reading this and are out cheering on our Falcon boys as they make their best attempt at making the playoffs. I'm listening to GR and Grundy on the radio and rooting hard for the Spartans. I wish I knew their fight song right now. I'm not wearing maroon, but maybe I should be. It sounds as though our fellas had an exceptional first half so I hope they keep it up.

I am behind a die-soft fan, warm here in my office. We have our Student Connection Fall Banquet tomorrow and I'm using getting the most out of the last minute. The meal starts at 6pm tomorrow with dinner served at 630pm or so. I hope you are already coming because I don't really know if there is any room or food for any more people. This is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year so pray for deep pockets and generous hearts. This community has always been very giving and I'm sure the Lord will continue to provide.

If you need me tomorrow I may not be available as there is much to do and not a lot of time to do it. Sunday will be 180, and it will be meeting at 400pm at the Student Connection. We are heading out to the farm of Kim and Randy Brocka to enjoy the outdoors for possibly the last time before the snow flies.

GO SPARTANS, they just scored another touchdown. Brandon Krusey is the man.

I should get going so I can continue utilizing the waning minutes before tomorrow's banquet. Procrastination, yet another fine attribute I picked up from my raising. God bless each of you and hope to see you tomorrow at the banquet or Sunday at 180, and if you're really hard up for entertainment maybe both.

PEACE,
adam

This Week in Student Connection

Hello 180-ites and Herdlings. Today is Monday in case you forgot or wanted to forget. I am preparing for the big Student Connection Banquet on Saturday night. It is at Bethel Reform church north of Aplington and it begins at 6pm. If you are interested in purchasing a table so you can bring your friends you'll have to let me know. The week will hopefully go as follows:

Monday-JV Football at Hudson, Go Falcons, HERD praise band practice at 4pm at STUCO, A team 7th Grade Volleyball practice at the school at 6pm to prepare for a scrimmage with DNH on Thursday, GO FALCONS AGAIN!

Tuesday-District Volleyball at DNH, Go get them girls

Wednesday-Early Herd at 430pm, Herd at 630pm, Ending time for Herd has alway been 810pm not 800pm so if you're coming to pick kids up were aren't technically done until 810pm. I will try to have them out by then. Sorry we've run late a couple times, but you are welcome to come in and grab your kid by the ear and drag them out whenever you need to leave. Don't worry about distracting us.

Thursday-Fresh FB at home with NP at 6pm. I will most generally not be available on Thursdays as I use this as my sabbath. 7th Grade Volleyball scrimmage against DNH in New Hartford at 6pm

Friday-Big Game against Denver at home(parent's night) Hope to see you there

Saturday-6th grade play, STUDENT CONNECTION BANQUET as mentioned above 6pm at Bethel Reform

Sunday-I'll be speaking at Calvary Baptist in Parkersburg in the AM, 180 will meet at regular time but head out of town to go do some shooting at Kim and Randy Brocka's farm. High school students must have permission slips signed by parents in order to attending.

Another week of youth ministry in the bucket, tank, books, whatever you're comfortable with. Sunday night the high school kids carved pumpkins. I'm not sure of the spiritual relevance of that, but these kids need to just have fun sometimes also. I'll try to post a nice video of their hard work soon.

The Early Herd went a little less well today than I would have liked ending with them being dismissed early for behavioral issues. I don't mind so much when the won't listen to me when I'm trying to teach, but I didn't take kindly to them being rude while my wife was trying to talk so we ended early without gametime. Just in case you hear any rumors about the storming mad youth leader. I'm sure word will travel fast. We really only let out about 10 minutes early so they weren't too deprived. Next week will be better. I'll have to tailor my talks a little more to their age group also. It's all a learning process for me.

The Herd went well I think other than our perpetual struggle with the technology aspect. Right before I was to give the talk time all the microphones mysteriously stopped working. I am not making this stuff up. The prior two weeks my powerpoints that I teach from all of a sudden either didn't work or just plain weren't there anymore. I call that opposition. There's a whole nother realm at work on some of this stuff I think. Anyway I got to shout my message without the aid of a microphone. The youth people did magnificently. They were attentive for the most part and even appropriate with their comments. The music went well despite the lack of practice on Monday which was exciting. The band is improving leaps and bounds.

Outside of ministry the 7th grade volleyball season ended on Tuesday with us winning the Hampton-Dumont Quad Tournament. I am very proud of our girls and hope they'll all stay out next year.

That's all I have for now. I have to get Macy home for a bath, bed, and taking her and Josie to MOPS tomorrow. God bless and have a great day.

If I Only Had Two Heads

All done with another week of Early Herd and Herd. Hopefully the night was beneficial to the young people. If nothing else they know that they shouldn't cross dress. You'll have to ask the Herd kids about that. The sixth graders are an always interesting group. As the title states, I wish I had two heads. That way I think I would be more entertaining for them and able to keep them more involved. I attempted to tell the 7th and 8th graders what a "rhetorical question" was, if I even spelled that right. It ended up with me just saying "rhetorical" where I normally would have added that "shhhhh" sound that you make when you want someone to be quiet. All in all I had an enjoyable time complete with a diving interception by me in touch football that had to be reviewed in the booth. The call stood. I'm not quite sure I didn't trap it, but it must have looked cool enough to impress a bunch of middleschoolers.

Tomorrow and Friday are that last two days of volleyball for us 7th graders. I don't know what I'll do with myself when I don't get to go to the gym every day and work with those young ladies. They are hard workers and are still improving even in these last days of practice. I hope our new team divisions work out in our tournament next week. They are really starting to play well together with the girls they are grouped with. So "GO FALCONS." Hope we can bring home the gold or whatever you get for winning this tournament. Our girls are the best and I won't listen to anyone who says otherwise.

That's enough if you're even still reading this. God is good and has brought the Student Connection through another week of corrupt power point files that consume entire mornings and computer crashes that consume entire days, maybe weeks, don't tell the board. Another week of not being able to find the keys for one mower and breaking the throttle cable on the other. Most importantly another week of trying to share God's love and truth with some of the most important people I'll ever meet, the young people of our community.

God bless,
adam

I'M STILL LEARNING

I am studying for the Herd talk tomorrow and just wanted to share this with anyone who may care. I definitely learned something and I feel better about what I'm wearing(dirty coat and holey pants). I am going to try to teach that IT MATTERS what you wear and this website was very enlightening. I liked it bettert than the one that said all you ladies have to wear dresses. This one makes a little more sense to me. I'll leave it at that and you can just read this short article. God bless you today!

THIS ONE SAYS NOT TO WEAR A WEDDING RING. I must disagree, unless your wedding ring weighs 5 pounds or something. I see what they mean but in our society I think it distinguishes those that are "available" and not which is useful for single people. I could be wrong but I'm going to keep wearing mine.

Service Field Trip

Last night we took a field trip with 180 to Waterloo where we handed out food to some friends and less fortunate people. It was a lot of fun and I hope a meaningful time for our young people. God blessed us to be able to meet some new friends and to be able to serve close to home. My goal for the trip was to impress on all of us that service doesn't have to be something you travel far away to do and that there is need right here in our own backyard.

As for this week I am hoping for a boring one. We've had lots going on these past weeks and this one seems to be a little more tame. Hopefully it will stay that way. Let me try to find my activity calendar quick and see what's up.

Hello From Here

Just a reminder for those that attend 180 we will be meeting at the Stuco at 4pm on Sunday and going for a field trip to Waterloo to serve meals to folks. Pray for opportunities to minister to the less fortunate and for safety as we go. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow.
God bless, adam
